Fashion no-go´s for women in their middle-ages?

One advantage that our society has against Middle-Ages people (especially women) is, that they don´t dress as stylish as people in their 20´s. If they dress stylish and sexy, people would assume, you want to feel young again and don’t accept your real age.

Magazines for elderly people, mostly for women include fashion and styling to give inspiration and to show, that this advantage is not correct. As a women or men in your 40´s or 50´s you can dress stylish and sexy! Role models for this are celebrities like Demi Moor, Jennifer Lopez or Daniel Craig.

The German fashion magazine “Bild der Frau” has written an article about this topic. The article starts with saying they are no “dressing rules” for middle-age women and especially fashion bloggers, who are over 40 shows that. It exist so many types like “classic”, “sporty” and “trend setter”. Everybody should feel good and comftable in this clothes and should wear what he/she likes.

The article “The over-50´s Fashion Icones with the Freshest style” underlines this opinion. The author thinks, that there is no age or birthday that can stop somebody from being stylish. Fashion is like a signature and unique. Some elderly women stop wearing dresses, skirts or suits. This is alright for the author but doesn’t mean that they are not stylish anymore. In the end he underlines again, fashion and styling is not a question of age

The website “Best Life” published a list about “50 things no women should over 40 should own”. The list includes things like sparkling eyeshadow, UGGs or a magnifying mirror. In their point of view, its a sign of refusing to grow elder and accepting your age.

Good advices for Middle Age gives the fashion magazine “Cosmopolitan”. In your 40´s your body is changing. Why do you not refresh your look and fit it to your body? Another advices are , to experiment to find the best look for you or not dress to young. This will make you look older. The last advice that the magazine gives is to get inspiration from a role model, that you admire (for example a celebrity)

All in all, I would say everybody should dress like they want. You should feel good in your clothes and this is the most important point. In my view there is no guidance or a rule book about what you can wear and what you can´t wear. Nobody has the right to tell somebody how to dress and what you can and can´t wear. As it is said before, fashion is unique. It is also a way to express yourself.
